Seeking food-drink reporter
The Richmond Times-Dispatch is looking for a reporter to concentrate on trends in local food, drink and entertainment, plus small businesses.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of three years' experience at a professional media outlet, website or newspaper.
Your beat will be what's new in the local dining scene; restaurant openings and closings; how the dining landscape here in Richmond is changing; and niche and off-the-beaten path best-kept secrets that only locals are aware of.
You will be the "must-read" resource for Richmonders before they venture out for a night on the town.
Besides covering where Richmond eats, you will also cover where Richmond shops, covering business openings and closings. Think of yourself as an influencer with the might of the RTD behind you.
You will also need to have hard news experience and the ability to weave data reporting, financials, and city/county policies into your reporting.
Knowledge of the Richmond area is a must. You will need to be able to mine social media for tips and be comfortable with a CMS system to push out your content. Ability to take your own photographs and/or video is a plus. An appreciation for the rich diversity of the city must be a factor in your coverage.
