Plate Making Technician
The Omaha World-Herald is seeking a Plate Making Technician to facilitate the output of plates used to print pages. The Omaha World-Herald is a regional printing facility with print publication deadlines. This position must prioritize to ensure that these deadlines are met and also have the ability to effectively communicate with other departments as needed to ensure quality output of pages.

The Omaha World-Herald is seeking a Plate Making Technician to facilitate the output of plates used to print pages. The Omaha World-Herald is a regional printing facility with print publication deadlines. This position must prioritize to ensure that these deadlines are met and also have the ability to effectively communicate with other departments as needed to ensure quality output of pages.
Responsibilities and requirements include
- Monitors page file and printing plate flow
- Utilizes the Newsway X interface for file paths and plate production
- Utilizes the interfaces for the Kodak Gen News plate machines
- Sorts plates for use by the press
- Makes blank plates needed for press runs
- Observes the machinery (platemakers, plate turners and plate benders) for optimal performance
- Communicates and coordinates plate output with the press
- Communicates and coordinates file flow with the Regional Design Center
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
- Troubleshooting skills are needed
- The ability to troubleshoot, meet deadlines, and use of computers is required.
